Call for papers - Burnout and overtraining / overreaching in athletes, coaches and the general population

The first issue in the year 2024 of Sports Psychiatry - Journal of Sports and Exercise Psychiatry will focus on Burnout and overtraining / overreaching in athletes, coaches and the general population: Course, mechanisms and consequences. The prevalence, risk and protective factors and the clinical course of burnout, overtraining and overreaching shall be discussed. Studies about the current care system and possible interventions among all performance levels will be of special interest.

We look forward to receiving your submissions by November 23rd, 2023, e.g. original articles, meta-analyses, position papers, or letters to the editor. All contributions will be reviewed by the editors and undergo a peer-review process.


Approximate Timeline

  • until November 23rd, 2023: Submission of the full manuscript
  • December 2023 to January 2024: Review and submission of revised manuscript
  • The issue is planned to be published in February 2024
